Michael Ure is a Senior Advisor in Lazard’s global Power, Energy & Infrastructure Group, an effort including power and utilities, oil and gas, pipelines and midstream, all aspects of the “energy transition”, infrastructure, agribusiness & nutrition and certain general industry clients. At Lazard, Mr. Ure serves in support of the Power, Energy & Infrastructure Group with focus on client development, formation of differentiated investment theses for clients and potential clients, team mentorship and guidance, and other activities across the entire spectrum of the Group whether related to pipelines and midstream, oil and gas, utilities, power generation, energy services or otherwise.
Previously, Mr. Ure was the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Western Midstream Partners (NYSE: WES) from August 2019 to October 2024 and in addition to those responsibilities served as interim Chief Financial Officer from September 2020 to May 2022. During his tenure, Western Midstream Partners transitioned into a standalone midstream business operating independently.
Prior to joining Western Midstream Partners, Mr. Ure served as Senior Vice President, Business Development of Occidental Oil and Gas beginning in July 2017 to August 2019 and as Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions of Occidental from October 2014 to July 2017. Mr. Ure held a leadership role in evaluating acquisition and divestiture opportunities including, during his tenure, accountability for Occidental’s business development activities in North and Latin America. Prior to joining Occidental, Mr. Ure served in a leadership role with Shell Exploration and Production’s Upstream Americas Business Development organization and as an investment banker in New York, London, and Houston; most recently with Goldman, Sachs & Co. During his career, Mr. Ure has worked on total closed transactions representing more than $150 billion in value.
Mr. Ure serves on the board of Phoenix Service Partners, L.P. and previously served on the board of The American Petroleum Institute (API).
